AQUA CLEAR UV and UV PRO pond clarifier
HEISSNER Aqua Clear & Aqua Clear Pro pond clarifiers eliminate single celled algae, the cause of green or brown pond water by exposing the algae cells to high energy Ultra Violet (UV) light as they pass the lamp. This causes the cell to become sticky and flocculation occurs (cells stick together). The algae is now large enough to be trapped in the mechanical stage of the filtration system.
The Aqua Clear UVC range uses the high performance PL lamps that offer both higher outputs per watt than conventional UV lamps and yield a longer working life up to 8000 hours.
TIPS
The pond clarifier should only be operated from May to September, for a limited number of hours:
Very turbid pond water (non-transparent) 12 hours a day
Turbid pond water (can only see down a few centimeters) ~8 hours a day
Slightly turbid water (can see down 50 cm) 4 hours a day
Clear water no need to operate pond clarifier
From October to April, UV clarification is not generally necessary.
During the first week of use of the UVC clarifier, only have it on for a maximum of 4 hours a day, to prevent a rapid loss of oxygen caused by algae depletion.
